Outreach

Outreach remains an important part of our parish vision.

Outreach Ministry
This dedicated group of people from the cathedral parish weighs the many opportunities to help others in our community, including both hands-on work and special offerings. Among the recurring events are providing holiday meals for 100 families and the annual CROP walk.

The Parish Care Team
The Parish Care Team was commissioned for visiting parishioners at home upon returning from the hospital, sending cards and notes and delivering flowers and Christmas gifts to those living alone and in retirement and nursing homes.

Parish Nurse Program
This program focuses on promoting good health of individuals and families emphasizing prevention, wellness and support groups. St. Paul's has three nurses who are available as personal health counselors and educators serving as a link between the people and their doctors, priests and other caregivers, as well as the many health and social agencies in our community.

Emergency Food Pantry
The emergency food pantry provides emergency food supplies to needy individuals and families. The number of families and individuals served averages about 26 per month. The program is supported by parishioner contributions of both food and money.

Stephen Ministry
Our Stephen Ministers are dedicated Lay members of our cathedral family who provide a special ministry of one-to-one Christian care to those parishioners who are ill, lonely, bereaved, divorced, unemployed or experiencing other personal difficulties in their lives. They are persons who have received 50 hours of training in the area of Pastoral Care, but are neither counselors nor therapists. Instead, they are caring Christian friends who can offer a listening ear to help others through the tough times in life.
